Our primary vocation is towards fatherhood, to become and to act like fathers, in whatever we are called to do. That is why CMUK’s motto is 'agere sequitur esse' – action follows being. We must act according to what we have been created to be.

Poverty mainly meant a lack of success, or something that many third world countries suffer from, or a life without much meaning due to being in unfortunate circumstances. It meant you couldn’t enjoy the finer things in life.

Everything we’ve been taught about what it means to be a successful man, about achieving status, authority and riches is turned on its head by this otherworldly defendant: “If my kingship were of this world”, he says, “my servants would fight that I might not be handed over to the Jews; but my kingship is not from the world”.

Subconsciously, many men know that fraternity will make humbling demands of them. It will challenge them to do the things they should be doing, but don’t because there is no one keeping them accountable. Isolation makes us inert, inertia makes us susceptible to temptation and sin, and sin further isolates us from our brethren and from God.

Men have been given a divine mission of fatherhood (spiritual and biological), one that we have largely forgotten or ignored to the detriment of families, society and the Church.
