The Purpose of Catholic Man UK, Two Years in.

In November 2017, James Leatherland and I started Catholic Man UK with our first conference for Catholic men, not quite knowing where it would all lead.

Two years later, with three annual conferences and two annual pilgrimages under our belts and nearly 1000 members in the private facebook group, we are beginning to consolidate the purpose of the organisation.

We are a group with action at its heart. However, this is not the kind of social action that we might see in the world. This is the action of Ephesians 4:22 - that we should put away the old man, corrupted through deceitful desires, and be renewed in the spirit of our minds, and put on the new man created in God’s way in righteousness and holiness of truth.

As developed in our November 2019 conference, 'Men as Icons of God the Father', men have been given a divine mission of fatherhood (spiritual and biological), one that we have largely forgotten or ignored to the detriment of families, society and the Church. We must, through the courage that comes from fraternity, take up that mission once again and 'relive and reveal on earth the very Fatherhood of God'.

This is the purpose of Catholic Man UK.

*Edit - for those men who are not (yet) fathers in the obvious sense, the mission of fatherhood still applies. It's been inscribed in our being from the very beginning. Young men must learn fatherhood from older men; older men must father younger men through intervening in their lives to guide, teach, mentor and affirm them in their manhood.
